UMass Extension Fruit Program

The UMass Extension Fruit Program's mission is to assist fruit growers with all aspects of horticultural and pest management. It is part of the Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment within the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts.

    McIntosh apples are in full bloom as of May 7 at the UMass Orchard. All other apples range from early petal fall (Zestar!) to king bloom (MAIA 1 ‘Evercrisp’). Pears are mostly into petal fall although I don’t pay a lot of attention to  them. Peaches have some lingering bloom, but mostly done, such as with Redhaven. Montmorency tart cherry is inpetal fall.
